USB Wireless Headsets

USB Wireless headsets from Jabra and Plantronics

Choosing the correct wireless USB headset for your Unified Communications, IP and PC telephony can be difficult. Each USB cordless headset has similar features and usually straight “Plug n Play” technology making them easy and seamless to use.

There is quite a range from Plantronics and Jabra GN Netcom USB wireless headsets and all are worthy of the job at hand. Cost wise they range from the cheap and cheerful Plantronics Voyager 510 USB at £60 which is ideal for those of you on the move with a lap top through to the new Plantronics Savi Office 100 and 200 at around the £180 mark but well worth the investment.

Jabra’s offering have been the GN9330E and GN9350E USB wireless headset which start at £160 - £210 mark with the nifty M5390 (works on mobiles as well) at £125.00 mark and offering great value.

Wireless USB versus Wired USB headsets
Historically, the top answer has always and still is cost! Paying a premium to be hands free with a wireless headset and the Dect 6 technology that enable you to do so is why they cost that bit more.

Both Jabra and Plantronics have invested heavily into ensuring that the technology and call quality of wireless is as good as the more traditional wired variety of headset. So have they managed it? Yes in most cases they have but it is fair to say it has been more about flexibility and freedom of hands free rather than matching the faultless quality of a wired USB headset.
